This is a question I get asked quite a lot by clients, so I thought i'd explain more about it. Brow Lamination is a process of treating brow hairs to make them more versatile and easier to manage.
So how does it do this?
A perming solution is applied to the hairs which instead of curling as you would normally associate with a perm, it straightens the hairs. It is a chemical process which takes place within the hair shaft. Once the hairs are straightened a solution is applied to build the bonds back into the hairs, making them strong again, but leaving the hairs softer and smoother which makes them easier to style.
How long does it last and is it safe to do regularly?
Hairs usually stay straightened for up to 8 weeks and after this time it is safe to repeat the process.
We always recommend keeping your brows in good condition and as with all perms it can dry out your hairs if done repeatedly. But if you use a brow oil at least twice a week, it will prevent this from happening and keep your brows nourished. Can my brows be styled or is it set in place?
Yes, they can be styled however you wish, whether you want to brush them up for a fluffier, fuller look or brush them to the side for a more natural look. The brow hairs become versatile to work with and can be easily manipulated. Your brow hairs are not set in place at your treatment.
We advise 'Set when Wet'. So all you have to do is apply a tiny drop of brow oil to your brows and comb them through with a mascara wand or spoolie. If on another day you want a different look, just do the same again and brush them differently!
Does it hurt and how long does it take?
Completely pain free! The treatment does include a brow tidy, so the only discomfort you may have is removal of unwanted hairs. The treatment takes an hour in total, but it is so relaxing! We have had many clients doze off they were so relaxed!
What Products are used? We only use products made by The London Brow Company and we are one of their official stylists who have been trained in Lamination to the highest standards.
Brow Lamination can be done at home yourself, but it is not recommended as it requires specialist training to get the timings right. Otherwise there is risk of over-processing and damaging your brows. The London Brow Company were innovators of Lamination in the UK and they manufacture all of their products in the UK which are cruelty free and vegan friendly.
