Microblading can only be performed on adults over the age of 18. It has become very popular with women, but more and more men are also having it done these days. Not everyone however is suitable to have the procedure done. Before Microblading itself takes place, an individual should have a full consultation and a patch test done to ensure they are suitable. The main objective of a consultation is to look for contra-indications that would make the treatment inadvisable. If you’re in good health with a good skin condition, you should be a suitable candidate.
Microblading is NOT suitable for everyone. Here is a list of some of those people who should avoid having the procedure done:
Pregnant or Breastfeeding Women (Not worth the risk to the unborn child)
Auto-immune diseases (compromised skin health can lead to infection or delayed healing)
People with bleeding disorders or on blood thinners (Too much bleeding can stop pigment from being implanted)
People who suffer from Keloid scars (if you already have keloid scars after a previous surgical procedure, there is a chance the incision strokes may end up healing raised)
People who have had botox near brow area within the last 2 weeks (Botox needs time to settle into the facial muscles)
Facial Dermatitis, skin conditions or sun burn (Flaking skin can lead to pigment loss and further irritation)
Allergic to Nickel (microblade needles are made of nickel)
Anyone with diabetes, heart conditions and those taking certain medications or who have had chemotherapy in the last year should consult their doctor before booking a consultation.
If you are unsure, speak to a qualified Microblading Artist who will be able to advise you.
